Covid19 is an infectious disease caused by the virus known as SARS-CoV-2, which is a coronavirus. It started in China at the end of 2019, and has resulted in a pandemic, which still in 2022 is not controlled. Although it has a broad variety of possible symptoms, common symptoms include loss of smell and taste, headache, nasal congestion, cough, fever, and breathing difficulty. Other possible symptoms are sore throat, runny nose, diarrhea, fatigue, and muscle and joint aches.
Due to mutations many different variants have been identified, many of which result in different predominantly symptoms and different degrees of severity. The best known variants are the Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Omicron.
